As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gradually gather momentum, leaders of the OTTIMANIA Movement, a grassroots political support group championing the leadership of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has intensified consultations aimed at consolidating support for the governor’s continuity in office.
The strategic meeting, held recently, brought together legendary sports personalities, prominent stakeholders and influential figures within the movement, including the Undisputed and Undefeated World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion of the Champions – Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor “De Ultimate Commander” (Ikenga Gburugburu of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom); Ex Super Eagles’ International skipper, the legendary Kanu Nwankwo (Papilo), and High Chief Mike Duru Ejoifor (Onowu Ndigbo), President of Akurueulo Organization.
The leaders used the occasion to review the progress of the movement across various communities and deliberate on fresh strategies for expanding its reach ahead of the next election cycle.
Discussions centred on sustaining grassroots mobilisation, deepening public engagement and showcasing the achievements of Governor Otti’s administration, which they described as people-oriented, transformational and focused on restoring public confidence in governance.
The stakeholders reportedly expressed satisfaction with the pace of development witnessed across different sectors of the state, noting that the governor’s infrastructural renewal programme, reforms in public service delivery and commitment to prudent management of resources have continued to attract widespread commendation from Ndi Abia at home and in the diaspora.
Speaking during the deliberations, the leaders stressed the need for supporters of the governor to remain united and focused on consolidating the gains already recorded under the current administration. They maintained that the OTTIMANIA Movement would continue to serve as a vehicle for grassroots sensitisation, political awareness and citizen engagement in support of good governance.
According to them, the movement is determined to ensure that the developmental strides recorded under Governor Otti are sustained beyond the current tenure, insisting that continuity remains critical to achieving the long-term vision of transforming Abia into a leading economic and investment destination.
The meeting ended with renewed commitment by members to strengthen the movement’s structures across the 17 local government areas of the state and intensify consultations with community leaders, youth groups, women organisations and other critical stakeholders.
Observers believe the growing activities of the OTTIMANIA Movement reflect the increasing calls from various quarters for Governor Otti to seek a second term, as supporters continue to rally around his administration’s development agenda ahead of 2027.
