Former President Goodluck Jonathan did not show up for a scheduled nomination form submission on Monday, leaving a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party waiting until late afternoon.
The faction led by Tanimu Turaki, SAN, had arranged a venue and expected Jonathan to submit his presidential nomination form for the 2027 race.
According to a source familiar with the event, the group waited from morning until 4 p.m. without Jonathan appearing.
“As at 4pm, they didn’t see Jonathan, hence they had to announce that the submission was postponed indefinitely,” the source said.
The source questioned the expectation that Jonathan would contest under a party structure described as not recognized by INEC, asking why the former president would submit forms in that setting.
The development comes days after the Turaki-led PDP faction said it had scheduled to screen Jonathan as its sole presidential aspirant and listed a 14-member committee for the exercise.
