Loyalists of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Atiku Abubakar have declared their support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election, in what appears to be a fresh realignment within Nigeria’s opposition bloc.

The endorsement was announced during a coalition meeting in Abuja attended by members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, the Obidient Movement, and the Coalition of Atiku Support Groups.

Speaking at the gathering, Kwankwasiyya spokesman Habibu Muhammed said the decision to back Obi was based on his leadership qualities and track record. He noted that the 2027 election would provide Nigerians with an opportunity to determine the country’s future direction.

“The common man will come out and determine his own fate,” Muhammed said, adding that Obi represents a leadership option capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

Also present at the meeting were key figures within the Obidient Movement and Atiku support groups, who expressed readiness to work together in pursuit of a united opposition front.

The development comes amid ongoing consultations among opposition stakeholders seeking to form a formidable alliance ahead of the next general election. Analysts say such endorsements could shape early permutations as political actors begin positioning for 2027.

While broader coalition talks remain fluid, the latest move signals growing engagement among grassroots support groups aligned with major opposition figures.
